Rules !..

ISA CUP '08

Special rules of the Tournament:

  • There will be Free Hit for every 'NO BALL' bowled (Over Stepping). In the Free Hit the batsman can get out only by a run out. However, the free-hit ball gets counted. Free hit is seperately indicated by the umpire.

  • Each innings will last for only 18 overs. There will be 5 overs of field restrictions of which three overs should be taken at the starting of the innings and the next 2 overs(consecutive overs) can be used anytime within the 18 overs.

  • Field restrictions will involve only 2 players outside the inner circle (Dimensions of the inner circle will be strictly decided by the ISA Committee with inputs from the Umpiring panel).

  • At any time of the innings 4 fielders should be inside the circle (excluding wicket keeper) and there can be maximum of 5 fielders on the leg side.

  • All players must wear coloured T-shirts while playing. The colour of T-Shirt worn by an individual member in a team must be consistent with the colour of the T-Shirts worn by the rest of his team members.

  • Each team should pick a colour of their choice for their T-shirts. ISA will not provide T-Shirts for this tournament. The captain who submits his team first will have the preference of colour incase 2 or more teams pick the same colour.

  • Any concern during the course of a match or controversy will be resolved by the both the on-field umpires. Resorting to objecting to umpires' decisions is not entertained and the umpires after a warning might ask the player to leave the ground or even forfeit the match based on substantial evidence.

  • Regarding concerns with suspicious action of bowling or any other thing, the umpires will take a call. The batsman just has to continue playing as per normal cricket rules, its not required for him to appeal to the umpire. The umpire after consulting the leg-umpire might give a no-ball if the bowling action is suspicious, if not the play continues normally. The fielding team's captain or batsman are not supposed to influence the umpires.

  • When a batsman requires a runner, the runner should be one of the playing 11 members. The decision whether or not to allow a runner depends on the umpires and the opposition captain is informed. If the umpires feel there is no sufficient reason, they might not allow a runner.

International Rules:

  • As far as possible, all matches played in this tournament (ISA CUP '07) will be governed by the rules set forth by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). To read through the official laws of cricket please visit the link http://www.lords.org/laws-and-spirit/laws-of-cricket/

  • Since, not all of the laws can be followed or practiced, it is therefore advised that while reading through the official laws of cricket, the player or concerned person keep in mind the practical aspects and learn to be more accommodating.
